The Best of Arlington Farmers Markets

Farmer’s markets are more than just a place to shop for fruits and vegetables. They have become quite the culinary community experience. Of course, you’ll find local farmers with fresh produce, meats and dairy, but now there’s a variety of other vendors who attend each week. It’s not uncommon to see food trucks, cooking demos, live music, freshly made bread, local honey, desserts, jewelry, soaps, art work and more! Here is our favorite Arlington Farmers Markets! Arlington Farmers Market. One of the area’s oldest markets! It is known not only for its produce and locally raised/made products, but for showcasing a wide variety of local civic groups, such as the Virginia Master Gardeners, local entertainers and musicians. Located conveniently to the Courthouse Metro stop at the Arlington County Courthouse parking lot at N. Courthouse Rd & N 14th St.

Open Saturdays from 9am-12p (Jan 2-Apr 9) and 8am – 12pm (Apr 18-Dec 26). For more information, visit their website, here.

Ballston FRESHFARM Market This mid-week market is highly accessible by foot or public transportation since it is directly across the street from the Ballston Metro stop in Welburn Square. It offers organic fruits and vegetables, grass-fed meats, pastured eggs, organic milk, yogurt, ice cream, sweet and savory baked goods, Virginia-made wines, cold-pressed juices, handmade soaps and lotions, wood-fired pizza, hot-pressed sandwiches, and more. This market also accepts SNAP/Food Stamps and WIC/Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program benefits and matches what you spend with Matching Dollars. All the details can be found here.

Arlington Mill Farmers Market Calling all bicyclists! You can ride your bike to this market located just off of the W & OD Trail at the Arlington Mill Community Center (909 S Dinwiddie St). The market feature fruits, vegetables, premade foods, coffee, spices, and more from the region’s top local vendors. This market is also SNAP (Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program)-Friendly! On the Second Saturday of each month, the market hosts special events such as Chalkapalooza, a Family Fun Day, Latino American Heritage Month, Celebrating Local heroes and more. Held every Saturday from May 11 – Nov 23 from 9 am – 1 pm.

Westover Farmers Market You’ll find over 30 vendors selling fresh produce, herbs, cut flowers, grass fed meats, dairy products, baked goods, and other prepared foods at this community-initiated market. Everyone who sells at the market grows, raises, bakes, cooks, or prepares everything themselves. And, it is all done within 125 miles of Arlington County. Get more details here.

Held year-round on Sundays from 8 am – 12 pm (May-Nov) and 9 am – 1 pm (Dec-Apr) at 1644 N. McKinley Rd. just north of Washington Blvd.
